Product Description

The Optris CSlaser LT is a high-performance infrared thermometer designed for precise and reliable non-contact temperature measurement, covering a range from -30 °C to 1000 °C. The pyrometers robust, single-piece design ensures easy integration into process systems, making it a preferred choice for professionals across various industries. Key features include double laser spot marking, a superior distance-to-spot size ratio, and durable stainless steel housing (M48x1.5). With measuring spots starting as small as 1.4 mm and response times from 150 ms, this IR pyrometer excels in demanding industrial environments.

The CSlaser LT infrared pyrometers redefine precision and reliability in non-contact temperature measurement, providing essential temperature monitoring solutions for fixed-installed or fixed-mounted applications. Their non-contact nature makes this infrared thermometer ideal for processes where direct contact is impractical, such as with inaccessible or moving products.

Compared to smaller sensors from the CSlaser LT and CSmicro product lines, the CSlaser stands out with its innovative double-laser sighting system. This system accurately marks measurement targets, ensuring precise temperature readings. Additionally, this IR pyrometer can operate in ambient temperatures up to 85 °C without additional cooling, further enhancing its versatility.

The CSlaser LT is a versatile instrumentation tool, functioning both as an analog device with a 4-20 mA signal and an alarm output (open-collector) and in digital mode via an optional USB programming kit. The standard two-wire interface simplifies cabling and ensures reliable data transfer to a PLC. In digital mode, the sensor and laser are powered by the USB interface’s 5 V. The sensor offers two modes of digital bidirectional communication, allowing for data exchange in both directions, as well as a unidirectional burst mode for continuous data transmission. Additionally, the CSlaser can operate simultaneously in digital and analog modes, powered by the USB interface.

A standout feature of the CSlaser LT series is its double laser aiming marks, which indicate the exact spot location and provide valuable information about the spot size. This ensures operators have a clear understanding of the measurement area, enhancing accuracy and reducing errors. The double laser beams follow the infrared optical path to mark the measurement spot at any distance, crucial for precise temperature measurement in industrial areas and research and development. Various focus versions allow flexible adjustments for different applications.

The CSlaser LT series offers exceptional optical resolution, up to 50:1, ensuring precise temperature data even in narrow field-of-view conditions. Available in multiple versions with different close-focus optics, the CSlaser LT provides unparalleled accuracy and versatility in non-contact temperature measurement technology.

Software

The Optris CompactConnect software improves the functionalities of Optris fixed infrared pyrometers, offering various monitoring, analysis, and control features beyond basic temperature measurement. It includes features like visualizing temperature trends with temperature-time diagrams and documentation. The software enables data logging, automatic process controls, parameterization of the pyrometer via configuration settings, and setting up programmable outputs and inputs. Additionally, it provides advanced signal-processing functionalities. Compact Connect The Optris IR mobile allows users to set up and commission an Optris infrared pyrometer or infrared camera with an Android smartphone or tablet. This tool becomes handy for commissioning and aligning the infrared cameras field of view or adjusting the configuration. The app analyzes the connected infrared cameras live infrared image stream with auto hot and cold spot detection. For pyrometers, a temperature-time diagram or the video signal is displayed. This app works on most Android devices running 5.0+ with a USB port supporting USB-OTG (On The Go). Google Play

FAQs

How can I change the scaling, emissivity, or other settings?

The optris USB Connection Cable kit (ACCSMIACC) and the software CompactConnect must be used to change the pyrometers settings.

Can I set up the CSlaser LT pyrometer for digital communication?

The optional USB programming kit is required for digital communication. Using the terminal block, connect each wire of the USB adapter cable with the same colored wire of the sensor cable. The sensor offers bidirectional and unidirectional digital communication. Bidirectional communication allows for the sending and receiving of data between the sensor and a computer. Unidirectional communication supports a fast burst mode of data in which the sensor only sends data.

Does the CSlaser LT support an open collector output?

Yes, an additional open collector output is supported. The open collector output is an additional alarm output.

Can I connect the CSlaser LT to a smartphone to adjust the settings?

The CSlaser LT sensor can connect directly to an Android smartphone or tablet. The IR mobile application monitors and analyses infrared temperature measurements on a connected Android smartphone or tablet. The phone powers the CSlaser LT pyrometer.

How far can I position the CSlaser LT from the target?

The measuring object’s size and the infrared thermometers optical resolution determine the maximum distance between the sensing head and the measuring object. The object should fill out the optics’ field of view to prevent measuring deviations. Consequently, the spot should always be at least the same size as the object or smaller. The spot size refers to 90% of the radiation energy.

How do I aim with a CSlaser?

The infrared sensor has an integrated double laser aiming, which helps align the sensor. The measuring spot is located within the two laser points. At the focus point of the appropriate optics, both lasers cross and merge as one dot, marking the minimum spot. The two laser points are for orientation only.

Is the laser dangerous?

The pyrometers laser is a class 2 laser with less than 1 mW in the wavelength range of 500 nm to 650 nm, according to EN 60825 1:2014. Do not point the laser directly at the eyes of persons or animals! Do not stare into the laser beam. Avoid indirect exposure via reflective surfaces.

The laser switched off?

At ambient temperatures >50 °C the laser will be switched off automatically. The laser should only be used for sighting and positioning of the sensor. A permanent use of the laser can reduce the lifetime of the laser diodes and might heat up the sensor.

Can I trigger the laser externally?

Yes, but the supply line for the sighting laser must be led via a switch or push-button, which has to be installed max 2m away from installation site of the sensor for safety purposes. The laser can be activated/ deactivated via this, by the user on site to be installed switch, or via the software.

What is required to install the CSlaser infrared sensor in the CoolingJacket Advanced?

The connector version is needed to install the CSlaser sensor in the CoolingJacket Advanced.

Can you connect two pyrometers to the same computer?

Yes , this is possible. For using the software CompactPlusConnect or CompactConnect (depends on which type of pyrometers you are using) you have to create different instances of the software. You can connect two pyrometers via the USB ports. It is also possible to connect the two pyrometers with a RS485 interface. You can connect the first pyrometer via the provided RS485-USB adapter to the PC.

Does Optris have any infrared pyrometers or sensors that can measure temperature at two different locations at the same time? My setup needs to cover a max temperature of 600 °C, with the device about 200 mm away from the hot component.

  • No , with one pyrometer you can only measure one spot.
  • To measure temperatures at two different locations with pyrometers , you can install a network communication (e.g. RS485, PROFINET, ETHERNET TCP/IP MODBUS TCP, ETHERNET/IP or other available industrial interfaces which Optris provides for the pyrometer series.

Does Optris have any pyrometers suitable for marine environments (e.g., humid, salty, or outdoor/exposed conditions) with at least IP65 protection?

  • Optris does provide pyrometers which have an environmental rating of IP65
  • For an additional protection a protective window can be installed for some pyrometer series

Does Optris have any laser-sighted pyrometers that can measure with a response time faster than 10 microseconds (sub-10 µs) and a spot size of 20 µm or smaller?
