The Air Purge Collar for the compact online infrared thermometer series keeps the lens of the infrared sensor clean in harsh environments. Infrared sensors measure the intensity of infrared light coming from an object, so dirt buildup can weaken the signal. The collar employs a continuous air stream that blows over the sensor and lens to stop dust from settling. This system protects against dirt, smoke, fumes, and dust, which helps get more consistent measurements in dusty conditions. Different models are available, designed for various distance-to-spot size ratios of the optics and different shapes of the sensing head.
