  • CTi 1M up to 75 : 1
  • CTi 1M 320 µs
  • CTi 1M 1.0 µm
  • CTi 1M -20 – 85 °C

CTi 1M

The CTi 1M pyrometer operates at a short wavelength of 1.0 µm, making it an optimal choice for accurate temperature measurement on metallic targets above 485 °C. Compared with long wave infrared sensors in the 8 to 14 µm range, it delivers higher measurement stability on uncoated metal surfaces due to reduced sensitivity to emissivity variations and reflected background radiation. For metal temperature measurement, the shortest wavelength pyrometer that fully covers the required target temperature range should be selected. Within the Optris pyrometer portfolio, the CTi 1M provides the highest measurable temperature range up to 2200 °C.

CTi for Glass

For Temperature Measurement of Glass

CTi G5
  • CTi G5 50 - 1650 °C
  • CTi G5 up to 20 : 1
  • CTi G5 70 ms
  • CTi G5 5.0 µm
  • CTi G5 -20 - 85 °C

CTi G5

At low ambient temperatures, infrared radiation in the 8 to 14 µm range can be partially reflected by the glass surface and detected by the sensor, leading to measurement errors caused by reflected background radiation. The CTi G5 minimizes this effect and provides temperature data primarily from the glass target. Operating at 5 µm, the CTi G5 pyrometer detects thermal radiation originating from approximately 1 mm below the glass surface. This spectral range significantly reduces sensitivity to ambient radiation and other environmental influences, enabling reliable temperature measurement for glass process monitoring.

CTi for Plastics

For Temperature Measurement of Thin Plastic Film

Optris Infrared pyrometer cti lt hot
  • CTi P3 35 – 600 °C
  • CTi P3 15 : 1
  • CTi P3 15 ms
  • CTi P3 3.43 µm
  • CTi P3 -20 - 85 °C

CTi P3

The CTi P3 pyrometer addresses this limitation by operating at 3.43 µm, a spectral range in which many plastic films become opaque and therefore measurable by infrared radiation. It is particularly well suited for plastic films with strong absorption in the C-H-band, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, and polystyrene. For optimal wavelength selection and sensor configuration, please consult Optris application support to determine the most suitable pyrometer for the specific film type and process conditions.

  • CTi P7 0 – 710 °C
  • CTi P7 10 : 1
  • CTi P7 150 ms
  • CTi P7 7.9 μm
  • CTi P7 -20 – 85 °C

CTi P7

Plastic films and foils with a thickness below 250 µm are often highly transmissive in the long-wave infrared range from 8 to 14 µm. As a result, standard LT pyrometers are not suitable for reliable surface temperature measurement on these materials. The CTi P7 pyrometer addresses this limitation by operating at 7.9 µm, ideal for plastics that absorb in the C-F Ether band like PET, PU, PTFE, PFA, PI and CTA. For optimal wavelength selection and sensor configuration, please consult Optris application support to determine the most suitable pyrometer for the specific film type and process conditions.

The optris CTi is a modular, high-performance infrared pyrometer platform designed for precise non-contact temperature measurement in tough industrial environments. Built for flexibility and strength, the CTi series combines reliable infrared sensing technology with modern communication options and a wide range of spectral options to tackle almost any temperature measurement challenge.

At the heart of the CTi design is its two-piece structure: a compact stainless-steel sensing head (IP65 / NEMA 4) and a separate electronic box made of die-cast zinc. This setup allows for quick head exchange, easy maintenance, and maximum installation flexibility without losing calibration accuracy. Each sensing head has a unique Head ID with stored calibration data, ensuring reliable and traceable measurement performance.

The CTi platform covers a wide variety of applications through its different model variants. It includes long-wave 8–14 µm models for non-metallic surfaces (LT and LThot), ultra-fast LTfast models for dynamic processes, 5.0 µm sensors for glass (G5), and specific wavelengths for thin plastic films (P3 at 3.43 µm and P7 at 7.9 µm). The CTi series is optimized for the emissivity behavior of different materials. It also offers short-wave xM versions (1M, 2M, 3M, 4M) for hot and fast metal processes, delivering microsecond response times and temperature ranges up to 2200 °C. This range makes accurate measurements possible even in tough emissivity and ambient conditions.

Built for industrial reliability, some CTi LThot models work at ambient temperatures up to 250 °C at the sensing head, making them suitable for furnaces, kilns, and high-temperature machinery. Optical resolutions of up to 75:1 allow for precise measurement of small targets from greater distances. Optional close-focus lenses enable spot sizes in the millimeter range for detailed inspection tasks.

Integration into automation systems is easy. The CTi supports adjustable analog outputs (0/4–20 mA, 0–5 V, 0–10 V, thermocouple type K), alarm outputs, and a wide range of digital interfaces, including USB, RS232, RS485, Modbus RTU/TCP, Ethernet TCP, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, and IO-Link. Optional relay modules and programmable I/O pins offer more flexibility for alarm management and process control.

Pyrometer settings can be adjusted via on-device keys or software. This allows for stable readings in changing processes. Otherwise, setup and commissioning can be done via USB using the CompactPlus Connect software or the IRmobile app, making parameterization and servicing easier.

With its modular design, extensive spectral options, durable mechanics, and wide array of interfaces, the optris CTi is more than just a standard infrared pyrometer. It is a scalable temperature measurement platform designed to integrate seamlessly into modern industrial automation while delivering reliable, traceable, and application-specific performance.
