Thermal Sensitivity

Thermal sensitivity, which is closely related to temperature resolution, refers to the smallest temperature difference that a thermal imaging camera can detect and distinguish. This parameter is crucial for the effectiveness and accuracy of thermal imaging systems, especially in applications where detecting subtle temperature variations is essential.

Temperature sensitivity is related to Noise Equivalent Temperature Difference (NETD), which represents the smallest temperature difference that produces a signal equal to the noise level of the system. While temperature resolution refers to the smallest digital step size, a NETD value considers the noise of thermal sensing systems.

However, to sufficiently detect small temperature anomalies, the NETD value should be 2 to 3 times smaller than the temperature variation that is being monitored.
