Calibration Source BR 500

The Optris BR500 is a high-performance infrared reference radiation source (blackbody) for precise calibration of infrared cameras and pyrometers. As the successor to the BR400, it offers improved usability, enhanced performance, and extended temperature capability.

With a maximum reference temperature of up to 500 °C, the BR500 expands the application range for verification and calibration tasks. It delivers highly stable and homogeneous radiation for reliable, repeatable results. Accurate radiation temperature measurement can be performed using either a contact thermometer with emissivity determination or a transfer standard infrared thermometer.

A modern touch display enables fast setup and intuitive operation. Its compact, rugged design, combined with high precision and long-term stability, makes the BR500 ideal for both initial calibration and routine verification.

FAQs

What should be the distance between the pyrometer and the calibration source?

Each infrared sensor is calibrated at a specific distance, depending on the device and its optics. Please, contact Optris for the correct calibration geometry.

How do I calibrate an infrared sensor?

The calibration process typically involves adjusting the sensor’s settings to match a known temperature, usually provided by a calibration source. This ensures the sensor’s readings are accurate. For specific instructions, please consult the device’s manual or contact Optris. A reference pyrometer is most likely required.
