Optris Celebrates One Million Infrared Pyrometers Sold Worldwide

Berlin, Germany – Optris GmbH & Co. KG proudly announces a historic milestone: the sale of its one millionth infrared pyrometer. Since the company’s foundation in 2003, Optris has continuously advanced non-contact temperature measurement technology, supporting industrial production, research, and automation processes around the globe.

The journey began in April 2004 with the first stationary infrared thermometer, the optris CT LT, delivered to customers in Germany. Over the following 22 years, Optris steadily expanded its portfolio, introducing new spectral ranges and specialized solutions for diverse materials and applications.

What started with long-wave LT sensors evolved into a comprehensive product family, including short-wavelength metal sensors, glass and plastic specialists, highspeed devices, and solutions designed for extreme ambient environments. Today, Optris pyrometers operate reliably in nearly every industrial sector and research field across six continents, highlighting the company’s global reach.

The milestone device was delivered to Optris distributor Schotec AG in Switzerland.
Managing Director Richard Schoch was pleasantly surprised by the significance of the shipment and decided to keep the symbolic pyrometer in the company’s showroom instead of forwarding it to the customer, who promptly received a newly ordered replacement CTi LT.
