More Information

When harvesting fields, fawns are easily overlooked and thus get severely injured or even killed by harvesters. As the cubs instinctively duck deep into the high grass instead of running when facing dangerous situations or loud noises, more than 100,000 fawns are getting killed each year. So far, there has not been a successful preventive measure. With the help of a optris PI LightWeight, fields are easily and price-effectively monitored by mounting the thermal imager onto a multicopter to monitor the respective fields. As the animals display a higher thermal radiation than the surrounding vegetation, they are effortlessly detected and can thus be saved from the danger zone.
